TowBoatUS currently operates 20 ports in NC with 12 of the ports on the NC coast. More towing ports means more towing assistance at the ready, which equals less wait time when you need assistance on the water.
TowBoatUS in Beaufort, NC operates under the company of Atlantic Coast Marine Group, Inc. Capt Lee Sykes is President / Owner / Operator of the company and has been in the towing and marine salvage business for almost 10 years.
In May of 2011 TowBoatUS expanded their operations to include TowBoat Jordan Lake (and the surrounding areas) and is now operating on Falls Lake, Lake Gaston and Kerr Lake. In 2012 TowBoatUS Beaufort expanded operations to include Swansboro! We have two captains dedicated to the Swansboro area working out of Caspers Marina. New ports for the NC Lakes in 2015 are High Rock Lake and Smith Mt Lake (in VA).
In addition to Captain Sykes, he has Office Manager and Dispatcher Carol Roop. Carol has been with TowBoatUS Beaufort since September of 2005 and is the "voice of the Crystal Coast airways" on VHF Channel 16. Joining Carol in Dispatcher and Marketing duties is Lesa Rhodes. Lesa's background was in AAA dispatching so she knows how to handle calls! If you need assistance on the water and have a VHF radio - you WILL be heard.
Capt Sykes also has four full time Tow Captains (view our Captains below) as well as many on-call/ part-time Tow Captains to cover our Beaufort through Swansboro operations. Our lake operations have grown over the years and we now have 12 full to part-time captains covering 6 lakes. All combined there is over 85 years towing experience of Licensed and Qualified Tow Captains within the company ready to assist!
Our NC Lakes Division covers the areas of Jordan Lake, Falls Lake, Kerr Lake, Lake Gaston, High Rock Lake and NOW Smith Mountain Lake! TowBoatUS Beaufort covers the areas along the ICW from "The Wiggles" up Adams Creek down through Swansboro to the Onslow Swing Bridge. Off shore coverage is up to 75 miles (WE GO TO BIG ROCK!). Keep in mind though that you are covered no matter where you boat in the United States. Carol moved to NC in September 2005 just days before Hurricane Ophelia hit the Crystal Coast. While see had spent quite a few years on the water, she had never worked within the Marine Towing and Salvage business. As it was only her third day on the job, It was "trail by fire."
Carol's roots started in NC as she was born in Ahoskie, NC but was raised in Virginia Beach, VA. She has always been a big fan of the beach and especially the NC beaches. She and her family still spend their annual vacations in Corolla, NC. But Carol knew she had found a home when she first visited Beaufort, NC and the beautiful waters of the Crystal Coast.

Captain Stewart lives in the Swansboro area and covers TowBoat Swansboro and also helps out a lot with TowBoatUS Beaufort / Morehead City. Capt Stewart has packed a lot of hours on the water in his very few years and is an excellent Captain that can manage just about every tasks put before him. While he does enjoy his job with TowBoatUS he still loves to be out fishing and/or hunting.
You will likely see Capt Stewart along the Swansboro and Beaufort waterfronts, Shackleford Banks, Cape Lookout or even miles off-shore!
Capt Kevin Oliver lives in Atlantic Beach and has been working on and around the water most of his life and currently holds a USCG Master Captain License w/towing endorsement. Capt Kevin has also logged quite a few hours in HAZMAT response and holds licenses in CFR Technical Services, Asbestos Accreditation Training, Environmental Restoration and holds a FEMA Certificate of Achievment in Incident Command.

Capt Bryan Goodwin is an eighth generation waterman and native of the Southern Outerbanks (or SOBX). Captain Bryan holds a communication degree from the University of NC/Chapel Hill, 100 ton Masters Captains License through the USCG with towing endorsement, and several other safety and Search and Rescue Certifications.
Capt Bryan also spends time working as a Saltwater Fishing guide and Independent Television Producer. He is a certified lifeguard and open water diver.
Capt Bryan enjoys working on the waters of our Carolina coast and has a passion for helping others. Look for our Capt Bryan on the waters of Hawkers Island, Beaufort, Morehead City and Swansboro. Capt Bryan also handles cases off-shore and waters surrounding the Cape Lookout Lighthouse.
Andrew Joyce was born in Greensboro, NC to a family with a history of fishing the Outer Banks. He grew up surf fishing the coast from Ocracoke to Oak Island with his dad and got into boat fishing at age 17 when his family purchased a 20’ center console. After high school he moved to Oak Island to begin work at Fort Caswell and to attend Cape Fear Community College. He studied Marine Technology, and took night classes to gain additional knowledge in coastal and celestial navigation, as well as to get his Captain’s Licenses. While at Cape Fear, Andrew received the Ava Hobbs Riverfest Scholarship, graduated top of his class, and received perfect examination scores on the USCG test for the OUPV Captain’s License. Andrew is an Open Water Scuba Diver, has volunteered with Oyster Shell Recycling, and currently holds an OUPV and 50 ton Master’s License.
Captain Andrew is now working part-time for TowBoatUS Beaufort and Swansboro. He now works full time for the NC Ferry Service. Never know where you might see him!
CAPTAIN JOE IS BACK! Captain Joe is a native of Atlantic Beach, NC, where he spent his youth as an avid outdoorsman and grew up a waterman. He began commercial fishing offshore with his father on their 28' Bertram, 20' Sportcraft and later a 25' Hydra Sport from the time he was 3 months old, spending his youth in the offshore and inland waters of Carteret, Craven, Beaufort, Hyde, and Pamlico Counties.
Captain Joe attended West Carteret High School. At 17 he began taking criminal justice classes at Carteret Community College, while landscaping and working at Triple S Pier where he became an avid pier fisherman and managed the pier house. He then worked for the State Department of Corrections for over two years before starting his first company doing lawn maintenance and landscaping. He also later started another business on Ocracoke Island doing educational horse rides in the surf.
In 2006 Captain Joe returned to Carteret County to reclaim his roots and heritage and began work on the water again. Captain Joe has worked for Duke University Marine Lab in Beaufort, NC for three years on the Susan Hudson a 57 foot 37 gross ton research vessel, as well as their two 24 foot Carolina Skiffs, which has taken him all over Eastern N.C. by water. He also mated on several charter and private vessels including the Kokomo, James Joyce II, and the Trinity, including 4 years on the 97 gross ton head-boat the Continental Shelf. Captain Joe also operated his own yacht maintenance and detail service where he honed his networking ties in Coastal Carolina.
Captain Joe has a 100 ton masters license, HAZMAT operations, awareness and terrorism certification, and is an active firefighter / EMT. He also holds several state certifications and successfully commanded several incidents in the surrounding downeast communities of the Marshallberg area where he resides and is an active participant in the local fire departments and surrounding communities.
Captain Joe strives to be the best at his selected field and as a professional waterman, takes pride in his knowledge and customer service.

Capt Kevin Fuller started with TowBoatUS Beaufort in 2013 and works part-time with us in the areas of Swansboro and Beaufort. Along with Capt Fuller's TowBoatUS responsibilities he is also a paid fire fighter/EMT-I/ Lieutenant with MCFD. Additional capabilities include Hazmat tech, Fire Inspector and, Marine Shipboard Fire fighter certified for 23 yrs. Capt Fuller also served with the US Navy as a Damage control Firefighter on board an aircraft carrier for 6 years. Kevin made his home in Morehead City's Crystal Coast after his Naval career. He is married to Michelle Fuller with 3 beautiful kids; sons Sonny 21yrs, Stephen 20yrs, and daughter MacKenzie 13yrs. When he does have any spare time he enjoys spending time with his family on and around the water.

Capt Mark Chambers is from Morehead City, NC and knows the local waters well and has been on them professionally and personally for most of his life.
Capt Mark started out on the local waters when was 5 years old. Mark has worked on Fishing Charter boats since he was 14 and has worked in most capacities from Mate to Captain. He started work as a Part-Time on-call Captain for us during the slower (for him) winter months.
You may not see a lot of Capt Mark on a TowBoat this summer as he is fairly well booked for the season - but he will be around, towing our members whenever he can. In Mark's words, "I'm happy as a clam when I am on the water!"
Brian Lischin is a retired police K-9 narcotics officer with extensive search and rescue training. Brian has spent his lifetime on and around the water and currently holds a 50-ton near Coastal USCG license with towing endorsement. When Brian is not towing on the NC Lakes he is likely spending time UNDER water! Brian serves part-time as a charter boat Captain that specializes in scuba charters and is a certified open water scuba diver.
Chad Doggett is a native of Raleigh, NC. He attended Millbrook High School and graduated from Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, before attending and graduating from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia with a BS in Managerial Economics. As an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and boating throughout Central and Eastern North Carolina, he has spent numerous days offshore fishing as a mate onboard Another Option, based in Morehead City, NC, as well as other boats on both the Crystal Coast and Outer Banks. He also spends a good bit of time on the Pamlico Sound out of Hyde County and on the local lakes to Raleigh, Falls, Jordan, Gaston, and Sharon Harris Lakes where he will be serving as a captain for Tow Boat US.
